Eastwood Recap

We ran the twisty slick trails of Eastwood Park last night. I was going to bring my camera but, I left it in my office. I don't think it would have been possible to take pictures as you really had to watch your step the trails were treacherous with the slippery mud in spots. They say you can run about 7 miles without repeating your course out there and I believe it. You are constantly making hairpin turns.
Wayne, Mark myself and a new member to our group Dave, put in about 4.5 miles but it seemed like more. Wayne had his Vibrams on and Dave is a total barefoot runner. Dave is very experienced running sans shoes and put me to shame gliding over the few rocky spots we encountered.
Next Tuesday , a familiar course; Chester Woods. We'll meet at picnic shelter#5 at 6:15 PM. Hopefully I can recover from Med City very quickly:-)

Tuesday Trail Run 5/25

We're gonna take on the Mt Bike trails at Eastwood park next Tuesday. There are actually about 7 miles of twisty, nasty trails out there to run on. They are also a lot of fun. Meet near the ball field at 6:15PM. See ya there.

New Discovery

Every so often I'll do a Google search on Chester Woods Trail Run just to see if there are any reviews or bloggers that I haven't seen yet. A couple of days ago I found a new blog. Its called
" Fit this, girl" . The blogger, Mary, has a very interesting story and is preparing to run her first trail race at the Chester Woods 10 Mile. I couldn't be happier.
I'll be cheering Mary on along with everybody else in a few weeks, in the meantime, enjoy this link to Mary's blog . She's a personal trainer and has some very good tips on training for a trail run.

Trail Tuesday 5/18/10 The Douglas Trail Trail

I can't make it Tuesday , so Mark Mueller has graciously agreed to head up a run. Here is the plan.
This Tuesday (05-18-2010) we will be running and exploring the snowmobile / horse trail that follows alongside the paved Douglas Trail. It is a nice grass covered trail that many users of the main Douglas Trail don't even know exists. It is another hidden gem. We will meet in the parking lot at the start of the Douglas Trail just off of Valleyhigh Drive in NW Rochester. The run will start at 6:15 PM. I will even bring cookies to enjoy by all those who survive the run.
I look forward to another running adventure Tuesday.

THANKS!

Mark

This should be a fun run and a good oppourtunity for someone to try trails for the first time.
Thanks Mark

Millville is in the books.

Well the weather and other commitments etc.. took a toll on our trail running group today but,
Katie and I made the most of it.
You can pick your clothes, you can pick your food, you can pick your friends, you can even pick your nose but, YOU CAN'T PICK THE WEATHER ON THE DAY YOUR SCHEDULED TO RUN :-).
Actually in all seriousness we had a great time. It was cool, not cold. The trails were sandy, not muddy and as always the scenary was great. Katie and I were feeling good and really pushed the pace towards the end of our run, although I think Katie had another gear she could have kicked in if she had wanted.
Here is the slideshow.

This will be pretty much flat with some rocky spots.Plan on meeting at Shopko North at 5:30PM and we'll caravan nortth to Millville.I plan on parking by the ballfield on the south side of the bridge. We should be hitting the trail about 6:15
I am anxious to snap some pictures of this run,it will be awesome!

Quarry Hill

We had another great run at Quarry hill last night. It was pouring rain as I sat in the parking lot waiting for everybody to show up but, just as we were preparing to run the rain stopped. Thanks to Wayne, Katie, Jim and a mystery guest :-)
